Your Rehearsal
Even though using me at your rehearsal is optional, I prefer to participate in the wedding rehearsal because it increases the chances that I can meet the quality goals I have for the wedding ceremony. My goals for the rehearsal are relational, functional, and emotional.
First, I want to cultivate unity and harmony. You will likely have people who have never met or even heard of each other who are put in a situation where they will have to put aside their own insecurities and personal issues for the sake of the bride and groom. These personalities must blend and create something beautiful, working on the same page in synch with each other.
Second, is making sure everyone is prepared. Everyone should be confident in their responsibilities for the wedding. The wedding ceremony requires teamwork, coordination and proper execution by everyone. When the wedding day happens, everyone participating in the ceremony is usually caught up in the moment and don’t think as clearly as they do at the rehearsal. There is nothing wrong with that, that is how it should be because this is a happy event that they should be experiencing. They shouldn’t be thinking so much about what to do that they miss the experience. I will make sure absolutely everybody knows exactly what they are supposed to do, where they are supposed to be at what time and why.
