Stories Behind The Songs Yeshua When I first witnessed a Passover Seder as a reenactment of the Last Supper, it changed my paradigm about Christianity. I thought Jesus had made up the ritual for us to remember Him by. What I learned was that Jesus (Yeshua) was a rabbi, and He celebrated the Jewish Passover. Just as God had delivered the Israelites from slavery, the Messiah came to deliver us from the judgment of sin. This is the basis of all Christian worship. Who Is He? Who among us really knows the Lord? Many of us think we know the Lord, but we don’t. God is an infinite being that gives us much more than we deserve. He is the source of everything, and in control of everything in the universe. If we just take some time to consider it, we see that He has done so much for us. What has He done for you? Do you thank Him for it? The Stone This song came out of a tough period in my life when everything seemed to be falling apart. I realized that I was building my life on shifting sand. I had to learn to build my home on a rock. Click Here for more. Surrender Trusting God is hard. Really, truly trusting God is even harder. We cling tight to what we are familiar with and find security in what we know. God can’t bless us until we unconditionally surrender to His will. When we do that, only then can He begin to use us. What are you holding on to that keeps you from living a life of worship for God? I was holding on to my trust in the wrong things. Click Here for more. Shema Yisrael In Psalm 62 David writes about how he can rest in the face of assault by His enemies and how he trusts God to protect him. This is history that shows us that God is worthy of our complete trust. In 2005 when the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, stated that Israel should be “wiped off the map.” I wrote this song in response, as an encouragement to Israel that God always delivers on His promises. Israel will outlast its enemies. Incomprehensible It is fundamental that we think about God in the right way. He is beyond our comprehension and isn’t limited by our feeble definitions. He is the only one who was not created, but has always existed. How this being can love me, an imperfect and sinful person, is beyond comprehension. If we try to box Him into our limited understanding, we fail to know who He is and receive His gift of love. Read more here. Is This The Lord? This song is asking the question that many probably were asking as Jesus hung on the cross while they watched. In Mark 15:39, a Roman commander who witnessed the event came to the conclusion after Jesus died that He was surely the Son of God. Those who ask this question today are trying to understand how God could die on a cross. It is counter to reason. It is the fact that He was resurrected that proves He was God. He fulfilled Messianic prophecy in the Old Testament, written long before He came. The evidence is overwhelming. The Question This is the song I wrote to propose to my wife, unaltered. The story is told many times over the years, but this is a testament to the power of God’s love for us, how we have been able to survive the trials over the years. Worship is a way of life, and one way to worship God is to stay married. The Language of Angels In 2 Chronicles 20 it tells the story of King Jehoshaphat and his victory over his enemies. He decided to put the musicians on the front lines to sing praises to God as they entered the battlefield. This confused the enemy and they attacked each other, leaving Jehoshaphat’s army unscathed. This is a testimony to the power of worship. Worshiping God first above all things and putting uncompromised trust in Him results in victory over the challenges in our life. It isn't the only one, I have been doing more songwriting, but I wanted to share the message of this song now. It is particularly relevant to what I want to say in all my songs. Click Here for more. WMD Another song I haven't recorded yet, but felt compelled to share it. In my struggle with money and debt I learned a valuable lesson that everything we learn in school isn't true. When we learn something in school, most everyone believes it as fact, and we assume everything is fine. What we don't realize is the underlying beliefs behind what we are taught change our perceptions of reality. This is what has happened with our relationship with money. This song is about credit cards, and the truth behind them. Click here for more. |
